Volunteers Wanted - Planning Commission & Zoning Board of Appeals Open Positions
The Charter Township of Bedford is seeking applications from residents interested in serving on the Planning Commission or Zoning Board of Appeals.
The Planning Commission is responsible for the Township's zoning ordinances and the approval of proposed site plans and land uses. Members of the Planning Commission work closely with the Building & Zoning Administrator to help in the planning of current & future land use. The Planning Commission typically meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm. Occasionally, there could be a special meeting added to the schedule. This is a 3-year term.
A Zoning Board of Appeals hears appeals, evaluates requests for interpretations, and approves or denies dimensional and use variances. This board meets only when called upon, with the exception of the minimum legal meeting requirements, if not already met for the year.
These volunteer positions are great for any citizen who is interested in public service, local government, and local land use issues. Previous planning & zoning experience is preferred but not required.
